Progressive die for a stainless band buckle
A buckle for the stainless-steel straps that hold fiber-optic cable hardware on utility poles. We designed the complete die. It was built, tried out and is running in production.
- Client
- Nazda — telecom & energy hardware
- Material
- Stainless-steel strip
- Scope
- Strip layout · 3D die assembly · 2D details · BOM
- Result
- In production. A lot of 10,000 parts is shown below.
The part is a small formed buckle that locks stainless-steel strapping. It has to be cheap at volume and consistent from the first hit to the last, because installers depend on it in the field.
We designed the strip progression, the 3D die assembly and the full set of 2D details and BOM. The tool was built from our drawings, tried out and put into production.
